With the arrival of Family Scouting the BSA established a priority to bring the benefits of Scouting to more youth while remaining true to their mission to "... prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law." We are happy to be offering the iconic BSA programs (and resources) to boys and girls here at 119.
Both units are traditional and separte youth led programs under the guidance of a respective male and female Scoutmaster for each unit. They each share Assistant Scoutmasters and Committee members. The unique nature of our program is that both Scoutmasters respect one anothers vision for their individual Troops, likewise the Senior Youth Leadership teams along with the joint Patrol Leaders Council work together to provide a similar scouting program that runs side by side to each other. They assist one another in common programatic scouting goals while using the patrol method, community service opportunities, leadership training through active outdoor camping related activities and high adventure programs. Each task provides the scouts with opportunities to develop a strong sense of teamwork and servient leadership skills while following the Scout Oath and Law. A majority of our activities and trips are shared together, however at any given time we are prepared to pivot and allocate our leadership and attention to best serve the individual needs of our respective Troops.
We are a Linked Troop. So what does that mean?
